Our Projects
Protsahan’s projects empower women with essential skills for personal and professional growth. Each initiative creates a supportive environment for women to thrive.
Kamalini Vocational Training Centre
The project has been working consistently towards the development of women and girls in need, including those from migrant families from rural areas, those who lack literacy, the unemployed or school dropouts who lack skills to support themselves. The training offered at Kamalini seeks to impart or improve their skills so that they excel, learn and innovate to become more independent. Kamalini also works towards “training the trainers” to foster leadership: be they educators, parents, and leaders of social development projects.

The courses offered by Kamalini includes Cutting and Tailoring, Embroidery, Basic and Advanced IT, International Cooking and Spoken English. These regular courses are interspersed with sessions on digital literacy, human rights and health and hygiene.
1. Cutting and Tailoring
Cutting and tailoring is one of the most popular courses in Kamalini. Since many of the women and girls who come to our centre have migrated to Delhi from different parts of India, sewing is one skill which gives them an option to work from home or wherever they may be. It helps them to earn a minimum income to fulfil their basic needs and contribute to their families. Kamalini offers basic tailoring course which has a duration of 6 months.
2. MasterG
Since 2021, Kamalini has partnered with MasterG and Daughters Pvt. Ltd. to enhance its Garment Making curriculum. Each year, around 30 students enroll in the six-months MasterG course, receiving training from experienced trainers with industry expertise, providing students with valuable insights into the garment industry and its standards.
3. Embroidery
Our Embroidery course teaches step-by-step techniques, blending creativity and craftsmanship. Students gain skills to secure jobs in the thriving embroidery industry, paving the way for fulfilling careers.
4. Basic IT and Advance IT
Our Basic and Advanced IT courses equip students with essential skills for school projects, higher studies, and careers in office administration, front desk roles, or the software industry, preparing them for a tech-driven future.
5. Production Unit
After completing the tailoring course, some women work in our production unit. On receiving orders from clients, both Indian and International, they produce these items, earning money to support themselves and their families
6. Spoken Class
Our Spoken English course focuses on improving fluency, grammar, and writing skills to help students excel in interviews often conducted in English. This program boosts confidence and prepares them for better opportunities.
7. International Cooking
Our 6-month International Cooking course empowers domestic workers by teaching them diverse culinary skills to enhance their job prospects. Designed for beginners, the course covers hygiene, creativity, interpersonal skills, and employer requirements. With volunteer support, we provide hands-on training and job placement assistance, enabling women to contribute to their families’ income and improve their professional and personal growth.

Vatsalya Study Centre
The centre also aims to foster a sense of social responsibility in their participants, by facilitating outreach activities with less privileged communities. Personal one on one guidance and mentoring is offered to those who desire it, in an environment of trust and friendship, for their personal growth
Vatsalya also offers itself to women of an older age bracket, especially in the areas of professional improvement and fostering stable families. It does so through personal guidance, open support group sessions and seminars
1. Broadening Horizons
Given by well-established professionals, this initiative aims to increase professional awareness among the youth in terms of skills needed, challenges faced, and practical ways to carry out work.
2. Care for the Home
Our program emphasizes teaching essential cooking skills. Through this activity, participants also learn important life skills such as cleanliness, time management, and organization.
These skills are crucial for maintaining a well-managed and hygienic home environment
3. Critical Thinking sessions
Participants select and watch videos on topics relevant to today’s culture, followed by guided group discussions or debates.
Once a year, we conduct a ‘stay-in’ seminar where a specific cultural topic is discussed and analyzed in detail. Last year, the topic we dealt with was the ‘Paradox of Happiness’. This seminar also includes sports and social outreach sessions for the holistic development of the participants.
Through these activities, participants are encouraged to engage deeply with contemporary issues, develop critical thinking skills, and foster a sense of community and social responsibility.
4. Community Outreach
Food Distribution: We organize regular food distribution drives for the needy in the locality in front of AIIMS hospital, ensuring that those in need receive nutritious meals.
School Visits: We visit children from urban villages at a school in Aya Nagar, Delhi, where we teach crafts and play educational games connected to their school subjects. This helps in making learning fun and engaging for the children.
Volunteering Opportunities: We encourage volunteering activities and offer various opportunities for individuals to participate. This not only aids in community service but also helps in developing a strong sense of social responsibility among our volunteers.
Through these initiatives, we aim to make a positive impact on the community and foster a spirit of giving and empathy among participants.
5. Library Services
Our library is a valuable resource for students, offering a quiet and well-equipped space to focus and learn.
Free Access: Students can use the library for free, providing a peaceful environment for studying.
Focus and Learning: The library helps students concentrate on their studies in a supportive setting.
Book Borrowing: Students can borrow both fiction and educational books, encouraging reading for pleasure and learning.
6. Sessions for Trainers, Ladies and Mothers
We conduct short one day seminars for the organizers and trustees to synergize the team and to review our mission and aims and to see what we have done so far. These sessions also help us to plan what can be done next and what our aims and areas of concern should be. This year we keep reiterating the topic of building healthy families and confidence and hope in the younger generations as well as preparing them mentally for their future responsibilities.
We also organize talks and community group meetings with ladies, many of whom are mothers and wives. These sessions help them navigate through the changes and challenges in the peak of their adulthood, especially raising children in a challenging society and balancing professional work and their responsibilities at home. These sessions also take place online when offline is not possible.
